Mourning

أبا لله و أنا اليه راجعون

Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi rajioun
(From God we come, and to Him we return)

My father-in-law passed away Monday in Egypt. Thank God my husband was just there last week and got to spend time with him. I am sad he never got to meet our new daughter and only saw our son once. He will be terribly missed. Everyone loved him so much, he was such a kind man. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

I just have to wonder

Have you ever noticed how some people are so set in their ways? I mean just really not willing to try anything new or do anything outside of their "tried & true.". IT DRIVES ME NUTS!! I know that may seem odd, but it really bothers me. Now I don't mean that someone should do or try something they are genuinely opposed to or have a fear of, that kind of stuff. But to turn your nose up at things you've never even tried is, well, it's a shame. I guess I just hate to see someone miss out on an opportunity try to something they may really like. Or is it because I want them to try something I like? Hmmm, could be. But is that so wrong? If I like something, I want to share it with others. Growing up (and even now), my mother was so unwilling to try any new food. If it wasn't your typical meat & potatoes or pizza & chips, she wasn't going to even try it. I, on the other hand, could wait for the chance to try different foods. What's the worst that will happen? You will add some variety to your life and you may discover your new favorite food.

Happy New Year!

Here we are again at the end of another year.  Where does the time go, really?  This year held a lot of changes for me with the end of one career, the start of a new one, embarking on a new religious journey, a pregnancy and the birth of our daughter, just to name a few.  I'm happy and proud of what I've accomplished over the past twelve months.  I look forward to the coming year with high hopes and great anticipation.  I know there are more changes ahead, but inshaAllah everything will be fine.  Best wishes to you & yours!
